About the Saturn VUE
|
For 2008, Saturn has retired the second-generation, facelifted Vue five-seat crossover vehicle and replaced it with an all-new vehicle that is closely based on GM's German Opel Antara in terms of its basic layout, platform, and interior decor. It will eventually be sold around the world in Saturn, Opel, Chevrolet, Holden and Daewoo brands. About the only things left over from the old plastic-sided Vue are a couple of its powertrains. Otherwise, it's a much fresher, sportier-looking vehicle than the big, slab-sided square-cornered SUV it replaces.Click here to read more

EXPERT REVIEWS & RATINGS

First Test: 2008 Saturn VUE Green Line
The VUE's interior is handsomely designed, with a build quality that's appropriate for its price and with unexpected front-seat room. Aft, things progressively fall apart, with the second row being less generous, and the cargo hold downright pinched due to the VUE's angled, but at least-attractive rear styling. The VUE Green Line attributes aren't for everybody, but there's no question it has a real audience for the several things it does right.

2008 Saturn Vue Green Line: Less cost, fuel efficiency rated at 25 city/32 highway
The Vue Green Line incorporates many technologies in order to arrive at such miserly consumption, including an early fuel cut during decleration, optimized transmission shift points, and stopping the engine at idle. Regenerative braking, electric power assist during acceleration, low rolling resistance tires, and improved aerodynamics are also used in conjunction to improve efficiency.

2008 Saturn Vue
The Vue's interior is much better than previous Saturn efforts but is still not quite as well-realized in terms of material quality as the cabins of its competitors from Japan and Korea. The front seat bottoms are too low and too short, but the glove box is huge and there are some clever storage solutions in the rear cargo area.

Newcomers: 2008 Saturn Vue
The loaded XR AWD Vue sampled here represents a quantum leap in refinement, but tips the scales at over 4300 pounds. That makes it feel sluggish off the line (blame tall economy-minded gearing) and less than nimble at the helm, though body control and overall performance are admirable.

Auto News: Saturn Donates 2008 Vue Green Line Hybrid to The Nature Conservancy
The Vue Green Line hybrid, which boasts the highest highway fuel economy (32 mpg) of any SUV in the industry, will be used by Conservancy staff to travel to and from various projects throughout the state.

2008 Saturn VUE Review
Crisp, sporty and modern from every angle, the exterior design of the new 2008 Saturn Vue is dramatically different from the boxy old Vue, and that's because it is based on the European Opel Antara crossover and not the previous American-bred platform. Sizewise, the 2008 Vue is right in the heart of the segment with all of the other domestic and imported five-door, five-seat crossover SUVs, exactly 15 feet long overall on a 106-inch wheelbase.
