First Look: 2009 Audi A3 U.S. Spec
Audi's entry-level offering for the U.S., the A3 five-door, will be undergoing some revisions for the 2009 model year, both on the surface and underneath. Sold stateside since 2005, the Audi A3 has provided a sporty, upscale, yet practical vehicle to the U.S. lineup.

The base engine is Audi's 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder boasting 200 horsepower, while those looking for more oomph can opt for the larger, 250 horsepower 3.2-liter V-6. The important change is found mounted to these engines - the S tronic dual-clutch transmission is now available optionally on the 2.0-liter motor and exclusively on the 3.2-liter.

Also new for the 2009 Audi A3 is the option of Audi's Quattro drivetrain on the 2.0-liter, S tronic equipped A3. Previously available only with the 3.2-liter engine, this new package allows owners of the base motor to gain the advantages of all-wheel-drive.

2009 Audi A3
Audi has announced its 2009 A3 hits U.S. shores with a redesigned front clip, optional bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights, a modified rear bumper and taillights, new door handles, and new wheels. The Audi A3 will also boast two engine choices - a 200-hp, 2.0-liter TFSI, and a 250-hp, 3.2-liter six-cylinder - both available with Audi's S-tronic dual-clutch transmission and new magnetic ride adaptive shock absorber control system.

The 2009 Audi A3's interior gets new color and trim options, as well as an up-shift light. Adding the optional sport suspension will make the A3 more aggressive and will lower the car by little more than one-half inch.

2009 Audi A3 - The new Audi A3
The quattro versions put the 2009 Audi A3 in a different league to the other players in the premium compact car class. In its latest form the central hydraulic multi-plate clutch responds even faster when the engine's power needs to be redistributed between the front and rear wheels. This increases stability, traction and driving pleasure for the driver.

The standard-fit dynamic suspension, too, provides safety, precise handling and comfort all rolled into one. The well-balanced chassis characteristics of the 2009 Audi A3 and A3 Sportback are attributable to the elaborate engineering elements such as the four-link rear suspension and the efficient electromechanical power steering.
