Ford has announced today that its proprietary AdvanceTrac with RSC stability control system and new combined head and body side airbags will become standard safety equipment on the 2010 Ford Ranger pickup truck.
"The 2010 Ranger's Roll Stability Control and combination side air bag technologies will help occupants stay out of harm's way," said Steve Kozak, chief engineer of safety systems for Ford. "The Ranger has been America's most fuel-efficient pickup, and now it features a combination of safety features not offered in any other small pickup."
The 2010 Ford Ranger also gets new side airbags standard. Ford has opted to use one large airbag on each side to protect the head and torso, rather than two separate airbags. These will be combined with the truck's existing driver and passenger front airbags and anti-lock brakes in an effort to provide the most protection possible for the occupants. Also included as standard equipment are Ford's Personal Safety System, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System and the SecuriLock anti-theft system.
