What's New

All Acura Integra models received new wheel covers and redesigned alloy wheels in the 1996 model year. Green-tinted glass is also new. The LS trims now come with body-colored side moldings and three new exterior colors.

Exterior

Standard exterior features for all models include a compact steel spare tire, body-colored front and rear bumpers, monotone paint, dual power remote mirrors, a power-retractable antenna, and lightly-tinted windows. All models except the RS trim levels come with a first row sliding glass sunroof.

Interior

The sedan models seat up to five occupants, including the driver, while the coupe models seat four occupants. Standard comfort features for all models include a day-night rearview mirror, front bucket seats, four-way adjustable driver’s seats and front passenger seats, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and a driver’s footrest.

Convenience features common to all models include a front cup holder, one 12v DC power outlet, an in-dash clock, an AM/FM/Cassette audio system, power front windows with driver one-touch down, and front lighter elements. Storage features include a center front armrest with storage, a locking glove box, and a full floor console.

The sedan models also come with power rear windows, driver lumbar support, and full bench rear seats. The coupe models come with 50-50 split-folding rear bench seats. Cloth upholstery is standard on all models except for the Special Edition trims, which come with leather upholstery. Leather is also available as an option for the GS-R submodels. Air conditioning, front map lights, and a passenger visor vanity mirror are standard on all models except for the RS.

Performance & Handling

The 1996 Acura Integra is a front-wheel-drive car with rack and pinion steering and a double independent suspension in the front and the rear. A sport suspension comes standard on the GS-R models. The suspensions are supported by coil springs, and front and rear anti-roll bars are standard across all models.

Safety

The Integra features four-wheel disc brakes, with anti-lock brakes included on all models except for the RS submodels. Other standard features include side-impact bars, driver and passenger airbags, power door locks, a mechanical trunk/hatch/fuel flap release, and a center high-mounted stoplight. Variable intermittent windshield wipers and a rear defroster also come standard across all models, with a rear windshield wiper included on the coupe models. The Integra has a feature that warns the driver when the oil, tire pressure, battery level, or fuel level is low. Similarly, the driver is warned when the key is left in the ignition, and when the door or trunk is ajar.
