1995 Acura Legend Review

Luxury, performance, and value.

Reviewed by Automotive on

Overview

The 1995 Legend is a near-luxury sedan that has served as one of the flagship lines for Acura for the last few years. It's the last model year to bear the ?Legend? name. It offers good performance and a luxurious interior with a wide variety of standard equipment. With an affordable price, it holds its own quite well against the competition.

The 1995 Acura Legend lacks any particularly unique features to set it apart from the competition. The standard equipment list is fairly typical, and the price is quite average compared to similarly equipped competition. It's a much more desirable vehicle on the used market since the relatively low demand makes finding a good deal fairly practical.

The Range

Body Styles: sedan, coupe
Engines: 3.2-liter six-cylinder
Transmissions: four-speed automatic, five-speed manual, six-speed manual
Models: Acura Legend L, Acura Legend SE, Acura Legend LS, Acura Legend GS

What's New

The 1995 Acura Legend has no major changes to the design over the previous year’s model.

Exterior

The 1995 Acura Legend is a relatively large sedan, measuring at 194.9 inches long with a wheelbase of 114.6 inches long. Meanwhile, the coupe versions come in at 193.5 inches long and a 111.4-inch wheelbase. The larger body size is typical of many near-luxury vehicles since cabin size is usually a high priority. Although it ends up being fairly average-sized compared to most of the competition, it's larger than less expensive vehicles. The styling is classy but conservative with crisp angles rather than smooth curves. However, it's a much smoother looking vehicle than some of the more blocky looking competition prevalent at the time.

Interior

The 1995 Acura Legend has a robust list of standard equipment, even in the base model. Standard features include power seats, power heated mirrors, power windows, power locks, power seats, power moonroof, keyless entry, leather seats, a CD changer, leather trim, air-conditioning, a cassette player, Bose audio, and an AM/FM radio; this is even standard on the base Legend L model.

Performance & Handling

The 1995 Acura Legend provides good performance and handling. The 3.2-liter, six-cylinder engine provides very good acceleration and a respectable top speed. Steering and handling are excellent, allowing it to nimbly move along the road under most driving conditions.

Safety

The 1995 Acura Legend provides dual-front airbags and four-wheel anti-lock brakes that are standard features. The standard safety features are typical of a vehicle that's in this price range and released in 1995.

EPA Fuel Economy

Acura Legend: 17/22 mpg city/highway
