Overview

The 1998 Acura RL classifies as a mid-size luxury car manufactured by Japanese automaker Honda Motors under the Acura brand. The RL abbreviation in the name of the luxury car stands for “Refined Luxury.? The first generation of Acura RL began in 1996. The Acura RL does not start as a new car but represents a rebadged version of the popular Honda Legend. The 1998 model of Acura RL belongs to the first generation of Acura RLs.

The Acura RL remains largely unchanged for 1998. Acura only enhances the suspension slightly to improve performance without affecting the ride quality.

Exterior

Based on a wheelbase of 114.6 inches, the Acura RL measures 195.1 inches long overall, 71.3 inches wide, and stands 54.5 inches tall. The RL features an elegant and sporty look. The majority of the exterior enhancements and features offered in 1998 Acura RL come standard. The standard list of exterior enhancements includes body-colored bumpers, chrome front and rear bumper inserts, a chrome body-side insert, body-side moldings, a chrome grille, body-colored or chrome door handles and mirrors, heated and power door mirrors, and chrome side window moldings. All models of Acura RL feature 16-inch alloy wheels fitted with 215/60VR16.0 tires. The Acura RL also features standard fully automatic headlights, front fog lights, aero composite headlamps, variably intermittent wipers, tinted windows, and center high-mounted stop light at the back.

Interior

As a luxury car, the majority of convenience and comfort features come standard in the 1998 Acura RL. The standard list of features includes a power reclining driver’s seat with eight seat adjustments and lumbar support, front bucket seats, a power passenger seat with four adjustment settings and a reclining feature, a rear bench seat, illuminated vanity mirrors for the driver and passenger, a navigation system, and several other comfort features. The Acura RL also offers good storage options across the cabin, such as front and rear cup holders, overhead console storage, covered floor storage, seatback storage pockets, a driver door bin, and an illuminated glove box with a lock.

The 210-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 with a four-speed automatic transmission generates adequate power to move around the city and on the highway. The speed-sensing power steering and four-wheel independent suspensions render a good driving experience and comfortable ride quality.
