The
2011 Acura TL is a popular sedan that is leading the class in terms of sales. The TL is equipped with either the 3.7L V-6 or the 3.5L V-6, married to a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission and offers either front wheel drive or the Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The combination of the six-speed transmission with SH-AWD is relatively new and is optional with the 3.7-liter V-6 engine, the carmaker's most powerful motor. The SH-AWD 6-MT succeeds the Type S Acura TL and is the carmaker's sportiest configuration. When built into a front-driver configuration, the Acura TL is equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine churning out 280 horsepower paired to the five-speed automatic gearbox.
Acura's wide, semi-attractive signature grille on the 2011 Acura TL's nose is slowly becoming accepted by car buyers. Behind the front grille is a sophisticated sedan with splendid driving manners and efficient handling. The Acura TL's safety systems are outstanding and the fuel economy is not bad: 18 mpg city/26 mpg hwy. With so many configurations to choose from, one is certain to suit you.
New for 2011
Since the Acura TL was completely redesigned in 2009, changes in 2011 are minimal. Perhaps the biggest news is the SH-AWD 6MT trim featuring an all-new close-ratio 6-speed manual and clutch, as well as re-tuned front springs and dampers, “unique” electric power steering tuning, and a re-calibrated SH-AWD. Also added to the 6MT model are heavy duty front drive shafts, CV joints, and front differential.

On the Outside
The 2011 Acura TL is a striking, well-proportioned sedan, with a futuristic aspect unlike anything else on the road. Best viewed from behind, the TL has the power to keep its viewers in the rear.
From the Inside
However, the best view of the new 2011 Acura TL might just be from behind the wheel, where the cool metallic tones, tight tolerances, and crisp gauges create a high tech environment. The driver's choice is definitely the 6MT.
Driving Performance
The 2011 Acura TL's 3.7-liter V-6 is a free-revving engine that reaches full potential only with the six-speed manual clutch. The five-speed automatic versions are deft handling sedans that cruise comfortably and enjoy spirited driving but would be more exciting with the six-speed transmission found in the MDX and ZDX.
Safety Equipment
Standard equipment on the Acura TL includes four airbags and active head restraints for the driver and front passenger, as well as various braking aids and stability/traction control. All seating positions have three point belts, while outboard passengers have side curtain airbags.
