2011 Acura TL Review

Popular sedan can be configured to thrill

Reviewed by Automotive on

In a Nutshell
The 2011 Acura TL is a popular sedan that is leading the class in terms of sales. The TL is equipped with either the 3.7L V-6 or the 3.5L V-6, married to a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission and offers either front wheel drive or the Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The combination of the six-speed transmission with SH-AWD is relatively new and is optional with the 3.7-liter V-6 engine, the carmaker's most powerful motor. The SH-AWD 6-MT succeeds the Type S Acura TL and is the carmaker's sportiest configuration. When built into a front-driver configuration, the Acura TL is equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine churning out 280 horsepower paired to the five-speed automatic gearbox.

Acura's wide, semi-attractive signature grille on the 2011 Acura TL's nose is slowly becoming accepted by car buyers. Behind the front grille is a sophisticated sedan with splendid driving manners and efficient handling. The Acura TL's safety systems are outstanding and the fuel economy is not bad: 18 mpg city/26 mpg hwy. With so many configurations to choose from, one is certain to suit you.

Comments:

Acura outdid themselves with the 2011 Acura TL. The exterior might not be for everybody, but I definitely think it looks fantastic. The bold, sharp lines contrast the smooth and exquisite interior that the Acura has. The V6 engine is strong enough for just about anything that you will be doing daily with this car and thanks to the fantastic exterior, you will be looking stylish in it as well. This car has all of the trappings of a sports coupe, yet it is a four-door sedan and works great for anybody who makes that long commute to work or has to take the children to soccer practice every other day. The price of the TL is another added bonus. If you want a great car that you can depend on without having to pay the price of a Mercedes Benz or a Cadillac, this is the way to go. The interior is fantastic and has the feel of a much more expensive car. The seats are great for long drives or just short spins around the neighborhood. Either way, you will not feel fatigued quickly. The great design that Acura has put into these seats is unrivaled. The interior also stands out because it is so large. Your peers will have no problem sitting in the back thanks to all of the legroom that they will have. The car, when new, also has a rich leather smell that one would expect from a car at least twice the price of the TL.
