1995 Alfa Romeo 164 Review

A sporty sedan that smashes expectations.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 is an Italian-designed sedan that combines high-end performance with style and luxury. The powerful three-liter six-cylinder engine allows it to blow past the competition. The seemingly average-sized engine produces more power than larger engines found in competing vehicles. With graceful, nimble handling, it can maneuver easily, even at elevated speeds. It can only truly be appreciated by drivers who can find areas where they can legally drive without being required to obey a speed limit.

While the 1995 Alfa Romeo 164's performance is the most important design consideration, luxury is hardly skimped on. It comes with a large range of standard features that would fit into many near-luxury vehicles. The seats are very comfortable, and driver visibility is excellent in all directions. It also does well in making sure the needs of the driver and any passengers are fulfilled. Not only is it fun to drive, but it's enjoyable to ride in as well.

The Range

Body Styles: sedan

What's New

The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 has no major changes over the previous year’s model.

The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 is an average-sized sedan, measuring at 179.5 inches long with a wheelbase of 104.7 inches long. It's a very stylish, Italian-designed vehicle. The styling might not appeal equally well to all drivers, especially for drivers more used to the graceful curves of modern sports sedans.

While the 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 focuses primarily on performance, the interior is very luxurious. Both models come with standard equipment such as leather heated seats, power heated mirrors, power windows, power locks, power seats, power moonroof, leather trim, air-conditioning, a cassette player, a CD player, a premium audio system, and an AM/FM radio.

Performance & Handling

The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 provides amazing performance and handling. The three-liter six-cylinder engine provides excellent acceleration and a very high top speed. The engine provides power that more equivalent to a V-8 engine than a similar-sized V-6 model. Steering and handling are excellent, allowing it to nimbly maneuver and turn with ease. In addition, it has no torque steering issues, which is extremely unusual for such a powerful front-drive vehicle.

The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 provides dual-front airbags and four-wheel anti-lock brakes as standard features. The standard safety features are typical of a vehicle in this price range released in 1995.
