2011 Audi A3 is a five-door hatchback that is affordable, yet sophisticated -- stylish, but still practical. Equipped as either a turbocharged four-cylinder gas motor or a diesel engine, the A3 offers three selections for transmission: a six-speed automatic, six-speed auto-clutch manual, or a six-speed manual. The A3 offers front wheel drive or Audi's quattro all-wheel drive.
While modest in its interior, the Audi A3's wagon utility is underscored by its boxy, square profile. Modest also are its standard safety features, however, the diesel does get a stunning 40 mpg, while the gas engine's EPA ratings are in the 22 city/28 mpg highway range. If you can't afford a higher end Audi, the 2011 A3 is a good starting point.
New for 2011
The 2011 Audi A3 now sports new chrome trim inside and out, along with two new wheel designs: one for the Premium trim and one for the Titanium Package. While Aruba Blue has been discontinued, it has been replaced with two new paint colors, Scuba Blue and Deep Sea Blue.

The exterior of the 2011 Audi A3 truncated hatchback body style is somewhat square and boxy without entirely giving up the Audi look. However, an optional sport package is available that spruces up the exterior with sporty wheels and Audi's trademark LEDs.

Leather and dual-zone automatic climate control are standard on the 2011 Audi A3 base trim, while a power driver's seat and multifunction steering wheel comes with the TDI trim level. For a bit more glamor, walnut inlays and a sunroof are optional.
Driving Performance
With a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, which can be routed to the front wheels or all four wheels through Audi's quattro all-wheel drive, the 2011 Audi A3 offers either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Offered as an option is a 140-hp turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine with 236 lb-ft of torque available in front-wheel drive only and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. If you prefer sportier handling, sport package is also available.
