What's New

New options and equipment improve current models of the Audi A4 series. An additional model, the 1.8T Avant wagon, also joins the lineup in 1999.

Exterior

The1999 Audi A4 comes in two different body styles: sedan or wagon. This year’s models have larger passenger outside mirrors than the year before. The A4 is available in only two exterior colors: Volcano Black or Jaspis Green. The 1.8T sedan offers alloy wheels, while the 2.8 models feature wood trim and fog lights.

Interior

Inside the cabin, the 1999 Audi A4 provides drivers and passengers with plenty of comfort features, including leather trim on both the steering wheel and shifter, power door locks and power windows. The 1999 Audi A4 series offers three choices of interior trims: the Advance, Ambiente, and Ambition. The eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support provides added comfort to the driver—especially during long road trips. However, passengers may find their seats a bit less comfortable.

Performance & Handling

A more than capable, 2.8-liter, V-6 engine provides the 1999 Audi A4 2.8 models with 190 horsepower, while the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine still gives drivers an impressive 150 horsepower to purr smoothly along on highway excursions. The 1.8 models utilize the smaller engine. Sedans offer the option of front drive or all-wheel drive with a manual or automatic transmission. Avant models use Audi’s all-wheel-drive system.

Safety

Anti-lock brakes and traction control come standard in all 1999 Audi A4 versions, making safety a priority easily accomplished. Dual front airbags and side airbags provide added protection to occupants in the event of an accident.
