There is no mistaking the A4 Cabriolet for anything other than an Audi as its design lineage is clearly stated, "up front", in the large single frame grille. The new for 07 re-design also includes fog lights built into the lower front valence, fully rounded and flared wheel wells with 16-inch alloys wheels and a freshening up of the rear end treatment.
The soft-top is fully padded to provide quiet top-up driving and with the press of a button retracts and stows cleanly beneath its rear deck cover panel. Like many convertibles, trunk space is limited compared to the sedan variant, but still manages to provide 10.2 cubic feet of cargo space.
There are two engine choices for the A4 Cabrio, a 3.2 Liter V6 and the turbo charged 2 Liter four cylinder engine, like we had in our test car. This engine develops 200 horse power and 207 pound feet of torque, driving the front wheels.
While the larger engine option comes only with a six-speed sequential transmission the 2.0 liter engine can be mated to either the sequential or a constantly variable transmission and Audi "Quatro" all wheel drive can be selected as an option for both power train choices.
The EPA estimates fuel consumption for the 2.0 Liter equipped Cabrio at 24 City/32 Highway with the larger engine delivering 19 City/27 Highway.
Braking is provided by 4-wheel ABS discs augmented with brake force distribution and electronic stabilization technology.
The A4 Cabriolet comes with leather upholstery trimmed with your choice of aluminum or real wood and provides seating for four with state of the art air bags throughout and roll-over-protection that automatically deploys roll over bars in an emergency.
Our A4 came with the up rated Bose audio system that includes multi-disc CD changer and Sattelite radio. A DVD based navigation system is also available.
MSRP for the Audi A4 Cabriolet like the one we drove is $39,100 with the top of the line 3.2 model Quattro listing at $46,950 and both variations are backed by a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty.
It's up to you...top up or top down. The 2007 Audi A4 Cabriolet lets you make the choice.
