2013 Audi A6 Review

Reviewed by Automotive on

The new 2013 Audi A6 is a midsize luxury sedan known for its performance and good looks. Audi's continued innovation has kept the A6 competitive with the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Cadillac CTS, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. With cutting edge technology, proven reliability, and modern sport styling, the A6 is definitely worth considering.

The A6 comes in five models based on features and engine size: 2.0T Premium, 2.0T Premium plus, 3.0T Premium, 3.0 Premium plus, and the 3.0T Prestige. The 3.0Ts all come standard with Audi's quattro all-wheel drive.

New For 2013

The Audi A6 received a full redesign in 2012, but still added a couple new features for the 2013 model:

  • Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive option for the 2.0T
  • Top-view camera system with front and rear side cameras
  • Start/stop engine function

Exterior

The 2013 Audi A6 is a sleek, stylish sedan that perfectly combines sport and luxury. The large grille on the front and the angular headlights give it a look similar to its sportier cousins the A7 and A8. For 2013, Audi made the aluminum exterior body even lighter for improved performance. Impressive exterior features include windshield wipers and headlights that automatically activate by detecting rain and light levels, power-adjustable heated side mirrors, and aluminum trim. The Premium plus and Prestige models also feature xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running light technology.

Interior & Cargo

The 2013 Audi A6 is luxurious inside as well with dark brown walnut wood decorative interior inlays and halogen ambient lighting. A sunroof and heated front seats are among the standard luxury features of the A6 along with leather-wrapped, eight-way power driver and front passenger seats, Audi premium music interface with iPod integration, three-zone automatic climate control, and four-spoke multifunction steering wheel. Upgrades include heated steering wheel, four-zone climate control and brushed aluminum, layered oak wood or natural fine grain ash brown wood decorative inlays. The A6 seats five comfortably and offers more rear legroom than most of its competitors.

The dash is attractive and highly functional with a pop-up screen displaying a driver’s information system that includes the Audi music interface with iPod integration, Bluetooth technology, and a trial subscription to Sirius XM satellite radio. The Premium plus and Prestige models offer Audi MMI Navigation plus with Google Earth maps and handwriting-recognition technology. An optional Bang & Olufsen or Bose sound system with HD Radio is also available. The A6 can even serve as a Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows devices to connect to the internet through the car. Audi has certainly thrown all of the bells and whistles into the 2013 A6.

The trunk area is spacious with 14.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

Safety

Not only is the 2013 Audi A6 stylish and reliable, it's also safe. The list of advanced safety features includes front-seat side and knee airbags, optional rear side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, front passenger detection for airbags, electronic stability control with traction control, anti-lock brake system, brake assist, and an anti-theft alarm system. The A6 also has a post-collision safety system that in the event of a collision, automatically unlocks doors, turns on hazard and interior lights, and cuts the flow of fuel to the engine.

Driving Experience

While the A6 is a sedan that can easily take commuters to work and families to soccer games – it really is so much more. The top-of-the-line engines found in the A6 are fast. Drivers will be impressed with the speed and performance of this sporty sedan. The 2013 Audi A6 comes with two engine choices. The 2.0T offers a 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine producing 211 hp and 259 lb-ft of torque, and the 3.0T boasts a 3.0-liter, supercharged, V-6 engine pumping out 310 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The 2.0T comes standard with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CTV). Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are available for the 2.0T and come standard on the 3.0T. Both engines provide plenty of revved up power with the 2.0T hitting zero to 60 in 7.5 seconds and the 3.0T racing from zero to 60 in just 5.2 seconds. Amazingly, these powerful engines still provide decent fuel economy at an estimated 18/27 mpg city/highway.
