Some cars just feel right. Whether it's a humble Chevy or a top line BMW, there's something to be said for that intuitive feeling that you get when you're behind the wheel of a special car. In that moment, all of the flaws and all of the technical achievements seem to go out of the window and all that's left is an overwhelming feeling of satisfaction. This is precisely how I felt as I began hitting the road in the Audi A8. I'll get this out of the way first: the A8 is limited in terms of fuel economy - but let's be clear, this is not a car for counting fuel pennies. This car is a rare icon of semi-affordable luxury in a seemingly never-ending recession. The first thing that comes to you as you hit the gas is just how fluid the steering is, I was fortunate to drive this car in November where I could experience it on snow and dry road - under both conditions the fluidity prevailed and I felt in complete control of the vehicle. How I felt on the interior matched how the car presented itself on the exterior, the $90,000 price tag certainly expresses itself to the world via hard body manufacturing and a front grill that screams class and sensuality. In terms of on board features the Audi R8 exceeds expectations and provides all of the usual modern perks of automobile technology with an effortlessly sleek interface. While this car may not be in everybody's price range, I feel that it is a slice of luxury that you would ordinarily expect to pay way above what is being asked here. Audi may not be entirely in vogue compared to its competitors, but here it proves it exists in a league of its own.
