2022 Audi A8 MODEL OVERVIEW

Audi's flagship sedan is expected to receive a major makeover for 2022. Although Audi hasn't released U.S. specifications, we expect our version will receive many of the changes seen on the global A8. That means we should look for a bolder exterior design, opulent interior, and all the top gadgets we'd expect from the tech-forward brand.

Fresh Face

Finally, the A8 is starting to shed some of its anonymous styling. Globally, the flagship sedan receives a flashy new grille composed of chrome design elements that increase in size from bottom to top. The base of the grille is now wider as well. Buyers will be able to customize the look of their A8 with chrome or black appearance packages.

The updated A8 will feature similar dimensions to the previous model, which was most recently available exclusively as a long-wheelbase model. Along with the standard A8, the 2022 S8 model should also return to the executive sedan's lineup.

An Elegant Interior

We expect the 2022 A8's interior will represent the best of what Audi has to offer. Top-notch interior features on the global A8 include massaging seats, a footrest that can warm and massage passenger's feet, four-zone automatic air conditioning, and an air fragrance system.

In the cockpit are two central displays: a 10.1-inch screen and an 8.6-inch screen. The A8 will also feature the stunning virtual cockpit in front of the driver and an optional head-up display. Meanwhile, rear passengers can stream content on 10.1-inch display screens attached to the backs of the front seats.

Engines

The U.S.-market A8 will likely feature a similar engine lineup as before with a 3.0-liter mild-hybrid V-6, a 4.0-liter V-8, and a plug-in hybrid variant. We clocked the A8 with the standard engine hitting 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds.
