The 1997 Audi Cabriolet is a sporty, luxurious convertible that comes with a 2.8-liter V-6, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 is capable of producing 172 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

What's New

The 1997 Audi Cabriolet doesn't get a power top, wood trim, and leather seats as standard features anymore; however, these can still attained with the Premium Equipment package. There are two new exterior color choices and three new top color choices. Optional leather seats also come in two new shades.


The 1997 Audi Cabriolet comes standard with body-colored bumpers, rocker panel extensions, a chrome grille, and aero-composite headlights. Other standard features include alloy wheels, power heated door mirrors, a power antenna, headlight washer, and tinted windows. A power convertible roof is available as an option.


The 1997 Audi Cabriolet is loaded with features such as air-conditioning with under-seat ducts come standard as does front bucket seats. A six-way powered driver’s seat and a four-way powered passenger’s seat come with lumbar support. The rear bench seat has an armrest in the center, while the shift knob and tilt steering wheel are leather trimmed. The standard AM/FM/Cassette audio system comes with four speakers. Other standard features include power windows with one-touch down for the driver, retained accessory power, a day-night rearview mirror, illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirrors, driver’s foot rest, and driver and passenger door bins. Other standard amenities include seatback storage pockets, front cup holder, full floor console, illuminated glove box, and 12-volt DC power outlet. Heated front seats and a Premium Equipment Package are available options.

Performance & Handling

The 1997 Audi Cabriolet comes with power steering, cruise control, and power-sensing steering standard. The steering is rack and pinion steering and front and rear anti-roll bars are standard equipment.


The 1997 Audi Cabriolet has four-wheel disc brakes anti-lock brakes. Standard features include dual front impact airbags, audio theft deterrent, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, power door locks, and a locking fuel flap. The standard security system comes with an ignition disable feature, whereas other standard features include illuminated entry, front fog lights, center high mounted stop light, and variable intermittent wipers. The driver is also warned when the battery charge is low, the lights are left on, and the key is left in the ignition. Available options include remote keyless entry, heated front windshield wiper jets, and a panic alarm.
