2007 Audi RS 4 Review

Gives plenty of power, handling, and luxury features.

Reviewed by Automotive on

The 2007 Audi RS 4 sedan offers an impressive amount of power that can move its heavy chassis at high speeds. Since it comes with all-wheel drive, consumers get to take full advantage of its 420 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque in all driving conditions. If they live in an area with seasonal snow, they'll find that the RS 4 handles the slick roads just as well as, if not better than, most trucks and SUVs. The luxury sedan market isn't all about power, though. It's also about comfort and impressive features. The 2007 RS 4 comes with plenty of both. It comes standard with the kind of features expected with a similar car at the same price. Add the optional premium package and they get even more features that will make occupants happy. However, the back seat is a little cramped, but two average-sized passengers can fit comfortably.

What's New

While this is the first year for the Audi RS 4, it is essentially a high-performance version of the A4. Notable additions include the 420-hp V-8 and six-speed manual transmission.

The 2007 Audi RS 4 has an understated exterior that doesn't give away how much power it keeps under the hood. It has classic Audi aesthetics that don't exactly stand out in a crowd.

The 2007 Audi RS 4 has the power of a sports car and the interior of a luxury sedan. Audi has a solid reputation for interior fit and finish. The 2007 RS 4 makes no exception to that rule. The cabin has Recaro seats with 12-way power adjustment, Napa leather upholstery, and carbon-fiber trim all over the doors and dash. It offers plenty of space for four passengers to ride comfortably. A fifth can be added for short trips. If more cargo room is needed, the split-folding rear seats offer a ski sack that lets consumers slide long items in without kicking one of their passengers.

The 2007 Audi RS 4 has other excellent features that come standard, including front seat heaters, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and a 10-speaker sound system. If drivers think the 2007 Audi RS 4 needs more features, then they can add the premium package, which includes Sirius satellite radio, heated rear seats, Bluetooth capability, a navigation system, an upgraded sound system by Bose, and a power rear sunshade.

Performance & Handling

The 2007 Audi RS 4 has a 4.2-liter, V-8 engine with direct fuel injection. It's a powerful machine that pumps out 420 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. That gives the RS plenty of power. It can go from zero to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, and it can clear a quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds, checking in at an impressive 107 mph. The 2007 Audi RS 4 has handling to match its power. With its excellent steering and all-wheel drive, it can handle tight curves without any problem. The RS 4 has a heavy weight, but it doesn't hold it back. The all-wheel drive and Dynamic lets drivers bolt from a starting position and, with a little help from the Dynamic Ride Control suspension, prevent tugging on winding roads.

The 2007 Audi RS 4 comes with most of the safety features that are expected from a high-performance sedan. Standard features include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, stability control, full-length head curtain airbags, and front seat-mounted side airbags.
