What's New

Previously optional equipment now comes standard, such as a rear-view camera and parking assist, a power trunk opener, keyless ignition/entry, power door closers, and sunshades for the rear windows.

The 2009 Audi S8 features 20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels with performance tires, the S8 badge on aluminum door sills, a deck lid spoiler, distinctive S8 front and rear bumpers, ventilated disc brakes with the S8 logo on the calipers, and power-folding outside mirrors. The S8 has a wheelbase of 115.9 inches.

Double-glazed windows provide better sound insulation; the power and manual sunshades provide additional protection against the sun. Audi offers several color combinations for the two-tone leather upholstery to help you customize your 2009 Audi S8.

Alcantara leather covers the headliner and the rear package shelf. It complements the standard leather/wood/aluminum interior accents and offers the luxurious look that owners prefer. Ten-way adjustable sport seats offer a comfortable ride. Audi’s MMI (Multi Media Interface) works to control the various electronic gadgets within the cabin.

Performance & Handling

The 2009 Audi S8 comes equipped with a 5.2-liter V-10 (based on the engine in the Lamborghini Gallardo). Direct fuel-injection results in the ability to generate 450 hp and 398 ft-lb of torque. When combined with the six-speed shiftable automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual shifting, it offers faster shifting response times. Ride handling is superb, thanks to Audi’s stability control and traction control systems and the sport-tuned adaptive air suspension. Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive allows power to be sent to all four wheels, which proves helpful when driving on roads rain- or snow-covered roads. The S8 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Standard safety equipment includes four-wheel ABS with emergency braking assistance, stability control, an anti-theft alarm system with an engine immobilizer, and dual front knee airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, rear seat-mounted side airbags, and side-curtain airbags.

Adaptive Cruise Control, available in the Technology package, uses radar sensors to detect how far the S8 is behind traffic. If the distance between the S8 and the vehicle in front decreases, the cruise control decreases the target speed and/or applies the brakes to keep the distance constant. When traffic moves freely, the cruise control system causes the S8 to accelerate to the target speed.

Audi’s Lane Assist (available in the Technology package) determines when the 2009 Audi S8 moves into another lane without using the turn signal, the steering wheel vibrates to alert the driver to maintain the S8 in the proper lane; Side Assist sends an audible alert when a driver attempts to change lanes and the system senses a vehicle in the blind-spot.
