Available as a 2 + 2 coupe or two-seater convertible, the driver-centric 2012 Audi TTS reflects Audi's fun, sporty side, in a small and practical daily driver. While there are no changes to the 2012 Audi TTS, a refreshed version may appear in the future. The previous model year saw a more efficient engine and some cosmetic changes.
Exterior
The 2012 Audi TTS 2+2 coupe and two-seater roadster have an attractive, sleek body, and represent the latest in the Audi design language. Eighteen-inch wheels and daytime LED lights are standard. The convertible doesn't have a hard-top option, like the BMW Z4, but Audi says this is to keep the car light in weight, just as the car uses light weight steel throughout the frame.
Interior
The German automaker has earned a reputation for producing top-notch interiors, and the TT is a good example of this. Audi's Multi-Media Interface (MMI) utilizes a control knob on the dashboard, compared to newer systems, this isn't the most convenient or user-friendly infotainment system. Sporty front seats along with some aluminum accents on the multi-function steering wheel, vents and console offer a premium touch. The coupe's rear seats are not practical or usable for daily use or anything beyond a quick errand trip. Unlike its competitors, the roadster still utilizes a folding soft-top as the only option.
Performance & Handling
The 2011 Audi TT's turbocharged four-cylinder engine is updated with Audi Valve Lift and now offers 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Upgraded for the hot 2012 Audi TTS model, the turbo four makes 265 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. A revised base engine with a bit more power is expected in 2011.
Safety
Antilock brakes, driver and passenger front airbags are standard, along with side impact thorax bags for front passengers and front and rear head curtain bags. Electronic Stability and traction control are also standard.
