2013 Audi TTS Review

The 2013 Audi TTS effectively ups the ante over the TT model. The 2013 TTS is tweaked for improved performance and intended to pose a challenge to performance offerings from Porsche and BMW. Maintaining Bauhaus styling and a more modern, Italian-influenced hint of styling, the TTS is one of the more striking coupes on the market today. The interior of the 2013 Audi TTS sets it apart from its competition, with quality components and thoughtful designs. As a nimble, sporty coupe, the TTS may not be the most powerful car in its class, but it is one of the classiest. Boasting 22/31 mpg city/highway, the 2013 Audi TTS’s fuel economy may well be its most important performance factor. Nevertheless, there is something visually striking about the appearance of the TTS. And, the exhaust note, while not as menacing as some of its German competitors’, is good. The performance boost over the standard TT makes the 2013 Audi TTS an attractive option for those who appreciate a little extra power in a luxurious ride that will turn a few heads.

The 2013 Audi TTS is unchanged over the prior year’s model.
Visually very similar to the Audi TT from which it is derived, the TTS is a slick, sloping, sporty coupe with a few distinguishing appointments over its down-model stable mate. The body panels are primarily aluminum, reducing the overall weight of the 2013 Audi TTS. The 2013 Audi TTS features 19-inch alloy wheels, performance tires, rear spoiler, and cargo tie-downs. The TTS offers two-tone color schemes, front grille filler panel, and custom wheels as available options. Like the Audi TT, the TTS is available as a convertible roadster, in addition to the coupe format.
Interior & Cargo
The interior of the 2013 TTS is everything one would expect from Audi. The design is tasteful, high-quality, and full of features and useful amenities. The coupe has two rear seats that are better for storage than passengers. Folding down the rear-seats adds nine cubic-feet of storage, bringing the total to 24 cubic-feet. Other interior features of the 2013 Audi TT include cruise control, cargo net, front console storage, remote trunk release, universal remote transmitter, power steering, steering wheel-mounted transmission and audio controls, and tilt and telescoping steering wheel. Comfort considerations of the 2013 Audi TTS include interior active charcoal filter, climate control, sun sensor, cargo area light, alloy and leather interior trim, and six-way power driver and passenger seats. Leather upholstery is also standard, as are sport front seats. Remote power door locks, power windows, and power mirrors are also included in the standard configuration of the 2013 Audi TTS. In-car entertainment includes nine speakers, 140-watt stereo output, AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 playback and remote, Sirius XM satellite radio (three-month service included with new vehicle purchase), and memory card slot are also standard features. Interior options include upgraded leather, upgraded woods, all-weather floor mats, Audi Connect navigation/internet package, and the Audi First Aid Kit. Overall, the 2013 Audi TTS offers a wide array of comfort and convenience features.
Safety features built into the 2013 Audi TTS include a four-wheel Anti-Lock Braking System, front and rear airbags, dual front side-mounted airbags, emergency braking assist, electronic stability control, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, and anti-theft alarm system. Other safety features of the 2013 Audi TTS are electronic brake force distribution, pre- and post-collision system, whiplash protection, and brake drying. Xenon high-intensity headlamps are also included as standard.
The 2013 Audi TTS brings a tad more performance to the TT lineup. Featuring a modest 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, the 2013 TTS is tuned for 265 horses. The six-speed automatic transmission performs well enough, but the increased engine performance begs for a manual transmission. McPherson strut front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, and four-wheel independent suspension make the Audi TTS a confident ride with good handling. The 2013 Audi TTS craves winding roads, and hugs turns tightly. The added performance boost over the TT makes the TTS more fun, but still missing the mark in its effort to contend with other German-made sports coupes.
