Concord, NC (Sports Network) - Rain forced the postponement of Sunday's Coca-
Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway until noon (et) Monday.
A heavy downpour fell on the 1.5-mile oval just minutes before the scheduled
6:03 p.m. start time. Track-drying efforts were under way within the hour, but
could not be completed at a suitable time to start the 600-mile event.
Ryan Newman will lead the field to the green flag after winning his first pole
of the season and the first for Stewart-Haas Racing in Thursday's Sprint Cup
Series qualifying.
The weather has wreaked havoc at Lowe's throughout the weekend, as Saturday's
final Sprint Cup practice and the 300-mile Nationwide Series race were both
curtailed due to rain.
The weather forecast for the Charlotte area on Monday calls for showers early,
then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day.
