Concord, NC (Sports Network) - Sprint Cup Series driver Scott Riggs will
depart Tommy Baldwin Racing following Monday's rescheduled Coca-Cola 600 at
Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Riggs is currently 42nd in the point standings, with eight starts in the first
12 Sprint Cup races this season. His best finish so far is 25th, which came in
the season-opening Daytona 500.
Team owner Tommy Baldwin announced Mike Skinner, Patrick Carpentier and Brian
Simo will share driving duties in the No.36 Toyota for the remainder of the
season.
"I am looking forward to having Mike, Patrick and Brian behind the wheel of
the No.36 Toyota," Baldwin said. "I think they all will be able to help us
evaluate where our program is today and help make improvements to bring it to
the next level."
Skinner is currently second in Camping World Truck Series points, while
Carpentier, a Canadian racer, has one start in the Nationwide Series this
year. Simo is a road-racing expert.
"Tommy and I go back a long ways and I know that he is the type of person that
NASCAR needs in the Cup Series," Skinner said. "Even though my main focus is
the truck, if we can help Tommy along until he finds that permanent driver
that he needs to put his team to the next level, then it is an honor for me to
get a chance to participate and to try and help him out."
