What's New

The Volvo Concept Coupe is a completely new vehicle being debuted at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its unique new design architecture shows off the future of the luxury brand. The Concept Coupe was inspired by contemporary and progressive Scandinavian lifestyles, using iconic elements from the past to create the automaker's new Scalable Product Architecture that will be the basis for future concept vehicles. The Volvo Concept Coupe features not only a powerful visual impact, but glimmers of the P1800 that can be seen in different aspects of both the interior and exterior. New T-shaped DRL lights have been added to the concept, as well as a sparkling crystal gear lever that echoes the blue-gray exterior paint color. Also added to the concept is a large, portrait touch-screen that interacts with a digital display and head-up display in front of the driver.

Who It's For

As a plug-in hybrid, the Volvo Concept Coupe appeals to those looking for a luxury car that has a high mpg rating. Although most hybrids sacrifice some of their power for efficiency, the Concept Coupe has found a way to blend the two. The concept features a 2.0-liter high-performance Drive-E engine with a supercharger and turbo, which is mated to an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, giving the car 400 horsepower. Volvo hopes to target buyers in the luxury car market by creating more a dynamically styled lineup, with the Concept Coupe at the forefront. A premium image will help the brand gain momentum in the segment and propel them into the future.
