What's New

Like its predecessors, the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is an all-out performance variant that's more than capable of handling anything thrown its way. A water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine mated to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission punches out 475 horsepower. The latest GT3 is based off of the all-new 911 but only employs a seven-speed PDK transmission. This means that you can no longer manually row through the gears as paddle shifters on the steering wheel have taken over that role. From a standstill, the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 reaches 60 mph in a solid 3.3 seconds. The front end incorporates bigger air-intakes and a front-lip spoiler. A rear wing shows itself as well and helps keep the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 firmly planted to the ground at speed. Both the suspension and braking components have been upgraded to be capable of handling the 475 horsepower and the aggressive driving that's expected to come along with it. Dual-exhaust pipes peek out from underneath the center of the rear bumper, too.

Who It's For

As per usual with most automakers, Porsche didn't announce pricing for the 2014 911 GT3, but we expect it to float around the rest of the 911 lineup. The base 911 Carrera starts at $84,300 so Porsche's sports car isn't for everyone. The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is for those who need to go everywhere in a hurry and don't plan on carrying more than one person at a time. Going from 0-60 mph 3.3 seconds isn't for the faint of heart either and the 2014 911 GT3 isn't either. If you're looking for luxury, exclusivity, and a heaping helping of performance, then the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is worth looking at.

Key Features

The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is a formidable opponent and it hasn't even been put through the media paces yet. Some key features include:
  • A 3.8-liter water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine rated at 475 horsepower
  • Aluminum steel construction in the fenders, doors, trunk, and engine help keep weight down
  • 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds

What We Think

The rest of the 911 lineup is coming together and like the rest of the stable, the 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 looks like it will be just as fun to drive. A 3.8-liter water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine, rated at 475 horsepower, is mated to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission. This configuration, as Porsche estimates, is good for a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds, which is in hyper car territory. Minus the price tag, which is expected to tailored to a lucky few, what's not to love a Porsche 911 with those kinds of numbers?
