2014 Fiat 500e Debut
The Fiat 500 goes electric.

What's New
Fiat wants you to start Global Hotness with this, the Fiat 500e. Instead of a gasoline-burning engine, this little Fiat is an electric vehicle and it's capable of 116 mpg equivalent and an 80-mile range. And, it charges in under 4 hours with standard 120 volt electrical outlet. That’s pretty impressive, and even more so when Catrinel Menghia, the Romanian super model that set the internet ablaze last year in the Fiat 500 Abarth commercial (you know the one), hops out of one.
Who It's For
The 2014 Fiat 500e is for the crowd that works or plays close to home, and who care about the environment and new technology. The limited range isn't for everyone. And neither is its cute styling, but as we've seen with the Prius, sometimes styling doesn't matter. And in that regard, Fiat's new marketing campaign may help.
Key Features
On paper, the Fiat 500e looks to be competitive with the Nissan Leaf--but it's much smaller. And though we don't have the pricing yet, it looks to be a player in the market.

What We Think
The basic Fiat 500 isn't anything to get excited about, unless you just really dig the styling. But the Fiat 500 Abarth is another story entirely. It will be interesting to see whether the 500e is like the standard 500, but with less range, or if it proves as interesting as the Abarth in its own way.
