What's New

When the Infiniti JX35 becomes the QX60 for the 2014 model year, it will also add a hybrid version to the mix. For the 2014 model year, the QX60 hybrid will join the mix, and Infiniti estimates that it will achieve a best-in-class 26 mpg. That's good enough for a 24 percent improvement over the gas-powered version but Infiniti promises performance, interior passenger room, or cargo space hasn't been compromised. Powered by a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine with a 15 kW electric motor, the QX60 hybrid will add another appealing option to a vehicle that's quickly becoming the popular kid in the segment. The QX60's hybrid system uses a lithium-ion battery and electric motor to provide supplementary power, resulting in power equivalent to the 3.5-liter V6, but with four-cylinder economy.

Who It's For

The QX60 caters to the suburban driver who wants an environmentally friendly vehicle that doesn't skimp on performance. In the luxury crossover segment, the QX60 will go up against vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and the Audi Q7. However, only the Infiniti offers their vehicle in a hybrid, making it more likely to be purchased by those who are more concerned with fuel efficiency and emissions. The 2014 Infiniti QX60 is projected to be priced in the ballpark of $44,250, or $3,000 more than the non-hybrid variant. With a sleek new design, we expect that the QX60 will make a great impact on the luxury crossover segment.

Key Features

With more cargo room available thanks to the flat rear floor, passengers can more easily access the rear seats. Like this new feature, the QX60 also features:
  • 2.5-liter supercharged engine
  • Backup collision Intervention
  • Around View Monitor
  • Projected range of 500 miles

What We Think

With a seating capacity for seven and an estimated 500 mile range, what's not to like about the 2014 Infiniti QX60 hybrid? Add in a supercharged engine and the QX60 hybrid becomes even more appealing to those who want more power out of their luxury crossover. So far, the 2014 Infiniti QX60 has managed to combine two markets, those who want great fuel efficiency and those who want power. With the addition of a hybrid model, we expect the Infiniti QX60 to continue its upward trend and be one of the leading models for the luxury brand. We're anxious to get behind the wheel and put these projected fuel economy figures to the test so stay tuned.
