Taking strong cues from the bold Resonance concept, the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano features a futuristic design, new interior technologies, and better fuel economy.
On the outside, 370Z-inspired boomerang lights and a unique floating roof give the car an airy feel. To improve aerodynamics, the new Murano is slightly lower, wider, and longer. A bold rear spoiler adds to the aerodynamic appeal while making the SUV feel more athletic.
When the car goes on sale later this year, it will feature the familiar 3.5-liter V-6 engine rated at 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. But expect fuel economy to improve by up to 20 percent thanks to aerodynamic improvements, weight reductions, and powertrain tweaks.
Who It's For
In the crowded midsize crossover segment, it is important to stand out. The Murano finally makes its presence known with a more athletic appearance that will resonate with young families. The SUV's powerful engine and responsive handling will make it a popular sport vehicle that is perfect for taking on the highway or on camp grounds. And since the Murano is expected to come with a wide array of new technologies, we are very optimistic that this SUV will be a major player in its segment.
Still, other competitors have their merits. Contenders like the Toyota Venza offer a four-cylinder engine, and SUVs such as the Ford Edge are also fun to drive.

What We Think
We like the direction Nissan has taken in styling the new Murano. Its athletic look will likely attract young buyers who may be new to the segment. We expect this vehicle to offer an engaging drive while managing good fuel economy, a good combination for this class of vehicle. However, we wish a few more features were standard on the first two trims. Overall, we can't wait to drive both the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.
