The 911 rollout continues not just with the higher-performance variants (Turbo, GT3) but with the new Targa as well. As 911 fans know, the Targa concept has changed somewhat since the model first appeared in 1966. Where the early cars had a removable roof section over the front seats, more recent models have an all-glass roof and a power-operated sunshade with a front section that slides rearward. The 2007 Targa continues with that setup, and it also has a hatch-opening rear window that provides a second way to access the cargo hold behind the front seats. What's new this time is that the Targa will be offered exclusively with four-wheel drive and the wider, flared-fender body style. The Targa 4 gets the standard 911's 325-hp, 3.6-liter flat six, while the Targa 4S packs the larger, 3.8-liter engine and an additional 30 hp. As before, all 911 Targas have pointed rear quarter-windows, helping the cognoscenti pick the Targa out of the 911 crowd.
