Diesel-engined, short-wheelbase sport-utilities. In other words, Cool Stuff We Don't Get. The Range Rover Sport TDV8 is essentially a modified version of the Range Rover Sport TDV6-in other words, a diesel Range Rover Sport with a V-8 instead of a V-6. (Don't worry, you haven't missed anything; we don't get the V-6, either.) Peak power is 272 hp, or forty percent more than the TDV6. Sixty mph comes up in 8.6 seconds, and while that's not exactly screaming fast, the real story is the 445 lb-ft of torque available from 2000 rpm. A six-speed ZF transmission comes along for the ride, and a four-piston Brembo brake system (also found on the Supercharged, gasoline-powered Range Rover Sport) is standard.
