Chevy will be bringing its new HHR Panel to SEMA 2006. The HHR Panel is a cargo-optimized, 2-seater version of the familiar HHR retro-van. Its rear doors, which look as though they would be suicide doors, are different from the regular HHR only in that their windows have been replaced with steel inserts, and they do not have external door handles.

In place of the rear seat are two covered, optionally lockable cargo storage areas that can swallow 6 cubic feet of valuables. That's in addition to the 57 cubic feet already available. 40-amp service is available via an optional auxiliary power outlet in the rear of the cargo area, and Chevy has equipped the small cargo carrier with strategically-placed tie-down points.

The HHR Panel is available with your choice of two four-cylinder engines rated at 30 mpg highway regardless of whether they are attached to the standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic. That's reason enough to choose the 2.4-liter 175-hp variable valve timing unit over the 2.2-liter 149-hp base engine.
