The original Chrysler Hemi V-8 launched in 1951, and displaced 354 cubic inches. However, he Hemi legend really begins with the much improved 1957, 392 cubic inch version. And to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the 392, Chrysler is introducing a new crate 392 Hemi available from Mopar.

More importantly, this new 392 is making its world debut in the Dodge Challenger Super Stock Concept. Showing a customized version of a concept car is a first for SEMA, but making show-stopping cars certainly isn't a first for Chrysler.

With its red, white, and blue American flag theme, this Challenger is definitely hard to miss. The 392 cube (6.4-liter) V-8 has a twin-plug head and a high 10.5:1 compression ratio, and puts out 525 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. There's no word yet, but we hope it's available in the production Challenger, which is scheduled to debut in 2008.
