This chunky crossover SUV is based on GM's Theta unibody that underpins the Chevrolet Equinox, the Saturn Vue, and the Pontiac Torrent. Under the show-car detailing, this previews the replacement of the Isuzu Rodeo-based Opel Frontera, which was a traditional body-on-frame sport-ute. The Antara features a 212-hp, twin-turbo version of Opel's 1.9-liter four-cylinder diesel. Expect the production version to use a 1.9-liter four-cylinder diesel as well as 2.2-liter four-cylinder and 3.2-liter V-6 gas engines. Ed Welburn, GM's design boss, says that the look of the Antara previews the form language of forthcoming Opel products. The next Saturn Vue may also look like this, as GM has hinted that future Saturns will look more like their Opel counterparts.
