The overhaul of Alfa Romeo's lineup is complete with the debut of the two new models in Geneva, the 159 Sportwagon and this Spider. Wearing the new face of Alfa Romeo, the attractive two-seat Spider measures 72.1 inches wide, 173.1 inches long, and 53.8 inches tall--1.5 inches shorter in length than a Chevrolet Corvette convertible, 1.1 inches wider than a Porsche Boxster, and 0.8 inch taller than an Audi TT cabriolet. Like the 159 Sportwagon, the Spider rides on a control-arm suspension up front and a multilink suspension at the rear. It will be available with two engines, a 185-hp, 2.2-liter four cylinder or a significantly more powerful, 260-hp 3.2-liter V-6. All-wheel drive will be available with the 3.2-liter engine. Rumblings about Alfa returning to U.S. shores have died down as of late, but the Spider seems well suited to spearhead an American resurrection serving as a halo car alongside the 159 sedan and the gorgeous Brera coupe.
