Adding an S to the Vanquish means another 60 horsepower over the standard model's already superb power. New cylinder heads and connecting rods are responsible for the boost-the 5.9-liter V-12 in S trim makes 520 horses and 425 lb-ft of torque. The S also adds Aston Martin's Sport Dynamic Chassis and bigger six-pot brakes up front. The driving experience of the supercar is surprisingly civilized given its sporty nature. The only downside: Aston has not addressed the clumsy six-speed electrohydraulic transmission. And the price. At $255,000, is Vanquish S really that much better than the DB9 which has similar specs but a $100,000 lighter sticker price?
