The Saleen S7 hasn't exactly been setting the sales world on fire since its introduction in 2002, not the least because the company has been busy establishing itself as a prime contractor for the Ford GT project. Nevertheless, Saleen hopes to revitalize its mid-engine supercar with a turbocharged version of its 7.0-liter Ford V-8. Thanks to twin, water-cooled Garrett turbos, this high-tech, all-aluminum engine now delivers 750 hp @ 6300 rpm and 700 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm. Although the car itself looks the same, the front fenders and rear diffuser/spoiler package have been reshaped to reduce aero drag and deliver more downforce, while new suspension incorporates anti-squat and anti-dive geometry. Most of this will probably matter only to competitors in the FIA GT series, where the S7 consistently wins races. The MSRP starts at $550,000-some $100,000 less than a Ferrari Enzo, the ever-optimistic Saleen folks point out.
