Since its incorporation in 2000, this tiny Dutch company has been showing its mid-engine supercar at various auto shows around the world. Named for the first-ever all-wheel-drive car, built in 1903 by two brothers from Amsterdam, the Spyker C8 features an all-aluminum, 400-hp Audi V-8 and rear-wheel-drive. These hand-built, $259,000 specialty devices are claimed to be capable of 187 mph, and they've been presented to prospective buyers at the Pebble Beach concours d'elegance over the last few years. It's a wicked looking car, but the interior also looks wicked enough to excite the interest of the DOT inspectors. Nevertheless, Spyker has ten dealers around the U.S. and expects federalization for the C8 Spyder in the first quarter of this year. In Los Angeles, the company also displayed its C8 Double12 S, a 500-hp, 215-mph street version of the car that the company raced successfully at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003.
