It's the fastest droptop on earth: coupe to roadster in 10 seconds flat. The Superamerica is based on Ferrari's 575M Maranello, with the same 5.7-liter V-12 engine under the hood. In Superamerica guise, the engine produces a tire-razing 540 horsepower, up 25 from the standard 575M. The biggest news, however, is the flip-top roof, a production car first. The revolutionary glass hardtop, designed by Fioravanti, flips in one piece to rest on the trunk lid with the rear window acting as a wind deflector. The carbon-fiber-framed glass also features electrochromatic technology, called Revocromico by Ferrari, which allows the driver to control the amount of light entering the cockpit by selecting one of five tint levels from clear to opaque. Pininfarina penned the Superamerica's sheetmetal, which looks stunning except for the less-than-seamless integration of the flip-top. Options include a GTC handling package, which incorporates stiffer suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes, and your choice of a standard six-speed, or sequential six-speed transmissions. Either will get the Italian berlinetta to sixty in a little more than four seconds and to a top speed of 199 mph. If you want a Superamerica for yourself, you better act fast because production is limited.
