Porsche dealers can exhale now; the new 911 cabriolet is on the way. The drop-top is perennially the bestselling 911, and dealers have complained bitterly about the lack of such a car to sell since the 2004 cabriolet departed along with the previous 911 on which it was based. Porsche is offering a base Carrera cabriolet for $79,100 with the same 325-hp 3.6-liter flat six found in the Carrera coupe and a Carrera S cabriolet for $88,900 with the same 355-hp 3.8-liter flat six offered in the Carrera S coupe. Available features will also mirror the new 2005 911 coupe. A weight penalty of about 180 lbs pales next to the price penalty of $9,800 compared to a fixed head 911. We'll take ours in special-order Arena Red, please.
