Alongside the recently redesigned A4, the S4 sedan and Avant made their North American debut at the LA convention center. Like the previous-gen S cars, all well balanced performance package is overshadow by an alluring powertrain. For '05, the 4.2-liter V-8 engine produces 340 hp at 7000 rpm and 302 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. The S4 has a sport suspension including stiffer shocks and springs, stronger stabilizer bars in the front and rear, and a ride height lowered by 30 mm compared to the Audi A4. To announce the performance lurking within, all S4 models are distinguished with body accents, exterior mirror housings, aluminum roof rails, dual exhaust pipes, and essential badging.
