The Model X was developed with young male college students in mind, and has a number of features specifically aimed at people with active lifestyles. The absence of a b-pillar allows the rear-hinged rear doors to open wide for easy access; additionally, the rear roofline slides forward, and, combined with a rear tailgate, gives the versatility of a pickup truck, to hold large items like mountain bikes, surfboards, or snowboards. Rear seatbacks can be flipped forward to create rear-facing seats for more flexibility. Destoned for production, Model X will complement CR-V, not replace it.
