With the opening of the 2002 Paris Mondial de L'Automobile, so begins the new auto show season here at motortrend.com and around the world. France claims the honors of having hosted the world's first auto show, way back in 1898, with an international exhibition in the Jardin des Tuileries, so it's appropriate that Paris host the first event of the year. More than 140,000 people visited the initial event, and now more than a hundred years later, that number has grown to more than 1.4 million expected attendees.
