2006 Fisker Tramonto front
When it comes to looks or performance, did the Mercedes SL55 AMG really need any enhancements? Fisker Coachbuild seems to have thought so, and reworked every possible inch of that $128,000 Benz into this intriguing work of art. The notably sharper exterior, whose body panels are comprised of aluminum and carbon fiber, leaves few but familiar traces of Mercedes' artwork, and a combination of hand-stitched leather and milled aluminum covers the similarly reworked interior. But this is far from a cosmetic job; Fisker also teamed up with Kleemann to enhance the already-potent 5.4-liter supercharged V8 from 493 to 610 horsepower, lowering 0-60 times from 4.5 to 3.6 seconds and raising the top speed ceiling from 155 to 202 MPH. Larger cross-drilled brakes and modified transmission shift buttons finish the job. Weight increased by not one pound. The price has also been enhanced to the realm of $297,000 (for the Performance Plus version with all mentioned upgrades), but who's counting?
