2006 Ford Freestyle front
It's not quite the return of the Ford Country Squire, but it's close. This thoroughly modern six-passenger "crossover" is missing only one piece: a strong engine. That aside, the chassis, optional AWD system, and CVT transmission are all shared with the Volvo-based Five Hundred, though the Freestyle differs in not offering the choice of a traditional automatic transmission. The most comparable vehicle would be the only other giant station wagon out there, the Chrysler Pacifica. Sadly, Ford has already announced the Freestyle's death after 2007 despite decent sales and plenty of merit.
