2006 Ford Fusion SE front

Ford has opted to make use of its Mazda partnership by using the 6 platform for its new family sedan. Like the Mazda, the Fusion's Mazda-sourced 4-cylinder pairs to a 5-speed manual or automatic, but unlike the Mazda, the V6 only mates to a 6-speed automatic without a manual option. The Fusion is ever so slightly larger than the 6, with the main differences being Ford's interior decorating and its assembly point in Mexico instead of Michigan.
