2005 Ford Escape Hybrid front

The Escape suddenly becomes the world's most economical SUV. Using Toyota Prius technology, the Escape Hybrid has all the same tricks, including the ability to run on electricity alone at low speeds while the gas engine sleeps. Ford claims its battery pack will last "seven to nine years." Normal Escapes are still available with Mazda's 2.3-liter 4 or Ford's 3.0 V6.
