2005 Ford Mustang rear
Strange that Ford would call 2004 the "year of the car" when its most iconic model is new for 2005. Marking the first clean sheet redesign in 26 years, the Mustang ditches its Ford Fairmont genes for those of the Lincoln LS, which magically solves too many problems to count. The V8 gets massaged to 300 horsepower, allowing the Mustang to smoke the 2004 Pontiac GTO despite having 50 fewer horses. The V6 also gets pumped to a respectable 210 HP; a 400-horsepower Cobra is coming.
