2006 Mercedes-Benz C-class front
The baby Benz goes from three body styles to one (sedan, not counting the related CLK line of coupes and convertibles) and three of its four engines are new. The wagon and hatchback are dead, and the latter took its supercharged 4-cylinder with it. The line now starts with the C230, powered by a 201-horsepower 2.5-liter V6 (why not call it C250?), now the only model available with a manual transmission. The C240 and its 2.6-liter V6 became the C280 with a 3.0-liter V6 (why not C300?) while the 3.2-liter C320 became the 3.5-liter C350. The V8-powered C55 AMG is still the summit.
