2006 Mercedes-Benz R-class front
Mercedes' "Grand Sports Tourer" uses M-class running engines (3.5 V6 and 5.0 V8), transmissions (7-speed automatic), and 4-wheel-drive systems and is built in the same plant. The big differences are found in packaging and size, where the R-class stretches over a foot longer than the M and even a few inches longer than the Chrysler Pacifica, which the R-class somewhat resembles. Three rows of captains chairs allow seating for six – six adults, that is.
