Jeep's Grand Cherokee catches up in the race to make SUVs more like cars with rack-and-pinion steering and an independent front suspension. Three different 4WD systems are available for serious off-roaders, and in addition to the V6 and V8, a Hemi V8 joins the engine lineup. No third seat is available, but bigger dimensions make it more comfortable for five.
