2006 Pontiac Solstice front
No less than the most inspiring GM design in years, the Solstice (better known as That Car From The Apprentice) represents Pontiac's first attack since the Fiero on what the rest of the world defines as a sports car. Aimed straight at Mazda's new MX-5, the Solstice has seats for two, a 177-horsepower 4-cylinder engine (the 2.4-liter version of GM's Ecotec), a 5-speed manual (sorry, no automatic yet), low-profile 18-inch wheels, a curb weight of less than 3,000 evenly-distributed pounds, and as God intended, rear-wheel-drive! A stripped-down Solstice without air conditioning retails for $19,995, but thanks to the consumer clamoring caused by Trump's TV show, that number is but a theory.
