The S40 sedan and V50 wagon underwent a key changeover when it switched mechanical donors: from a forgettable Mitsubishi compact called the Carisma to the new Ford Focus. Thankfully, Ford let Volvo be Volvo, so the S40 and V50 are loaded with all the safety features a paranoid mother could dream of. A 5-cylinder, with our without a turbo, propels the S40 and V50, with all-wheel-drive optional on the turbo.
